Costume Rentals

  • Do you rent costumes for kids?
    No, our costumes are all in adult sizes.
  • Are all the costume ideas on your website in stock?
    Not always. Some may already be rented for the date of your event. Reserve yours early!
  • I don't see my idea on your costume list. Can you help me?
    We're glad to help! Call us with your idea or drop by the shop and we will let you know whether it's possible.
  • What sizes do you have on hand?
    Costumes generally are available from XS to 4X and often we can alter them to fit.
  • How do I rent a costume?
    Call us or come by the shop. We will pick out items for you and check the fit when you come in. Come back the day of the event and pick up the costume and accessories, if any.
  • What is the average fee for a rental?
    Rental fee is based on accessories, value of costume, and usage. The average fee for a 3-day rental starts at $75 and includes cleaning.
  • When do I pick up / return the costume?
    Our standard rental policy is:
    1) Pick up your costume the day before your event.
    2) Wear it the day of your event.
    3) Return it after your event on the next day HPC is open to the public.
  • What if I can't return the costume on the next business day?
    Because our open hours/days vary depending on the season, our rental period is flexible. We are ALWAYS willing to work with your schedule. Just let us know in advance when we should expect the costume to be returned.
  • Do you charge me if I can't return it on the next business day after my event?
    We do not charge you extra for days when we are closed to the public.  Just let us know in advance when we should expect the costume to be returned.
  • Do I need to clean the costume before I return it?
    No, we do NOT allow customers to clean the costumes.
    We carefully clean every costume upon its return, often using specialized methods. A standard cleaning charge is included in the rental fee.
  • What happens if I lose the costume or don't return it?
    We will charge your credit card on file for the full cost of the costume (around $500).
  • What happens if the costume is damaged?
    You will be charged for the cost to repair the damage.
  • Do you ship costumes?
    Yes, by UPS, USPS, FedEx, and Greyhound. The shipping fees are passed on to the customer.
  • Do you guarantee that my costume will fit?
    We only guarantee fit if you try on the costume. No adjustments will be made once the costume has left the store.
  • When do I pay for the costume rental?
    You must pay in advance to reserve the costume. We accept Visa, Master Card, American Express, Debit cards, and cash.

  • What if the date of my event changes?
    No worries. If the date of your event changes, call us as soon as you find out and we’ll take care of it.
  • Do you rent costumes for themed events like mystery parties and weddings?
    Yes. Call us or drop by with your idea and we will let you know if it's possible.
  • I own a really special costume. Do you clean, repair, and restore costumes?
    Yes. Call us.

Theatrical Costume Rentals

  • Do you have enough costumes for the entire cast?
    Yes, we usually do. If not, we can make more.
  • Do you rent props?
    Yes, and we built props to order, too.
  • I don't see our play on your list. Can you help us?
    Call us with your play or drop by the shop and we will let you know whether it's possible.
  • Do we have to rent all of the costumes from you?
    You can rent one costume or enough for the whole cast.
  • How do we make sure all of the costumes fit? Do you guarantee fit?
    We make the costumes in such as way as to allow reasonable adjustments and we will also re-fit the costumes, if needed. We depend on measurements provided by the Director or we will come to your facility and take measurements when the order is large enough.
  • How much does the rental cost?
    Rental fee is based on number of costumes, their value, accessories, and props, if any, as well as duration of the rental.
  • When do we pick up the costumes?
    Pick them up during the week prior to Dress Rehearsal.
  • Can you deliver the costumes?
    We deliver costumes within a reasonable distance from our shop.
  • When do we return the costumes?
    As soon as possible after closing of the play.
  • What if we lose or damage some of the costumes?
    You will be billed accordingly.
  • Can you pick up the costumes for us afterwards?
    Yes, by prior arrangement, depending on circumstances.
  • Do you ship costumes?
    Yes, by UPS, FedEx, USPS, and Greyhound.
  • How do we pay for the rental?
    We pay in response to our invoice.
  • Is there a discount for schools?
    Yes, by prior arrangement.

  • What brands of professional theatrical makeup do you carry?
    Ben Nye and Kryolan.
  • Can you apply my makeup for me?
    Our professionals are happy to apply your makeup for you. Book an appointment for the day of your event.
  • How much do you charge for professional makeup application?
    That charge is negotiated with the makeup artist.
  • Can I buy makeup to take home and apply myself?
    Yes! We accept Visa, Master Card, American Express, Debit cards, and cash.

Wigs, Hair Pieces, and Hair Color

  • Can I rent a wig or hair piece?
    No. They are available for sale only.
  • How much do you charge for Wigs and Hair Pieces?
    It depends on the style and manufacturer. We accept Visa, Master Card, American Express, Debit cards, and cash.

  • Which hair colors do you have available?
    Colors are available seasonally, and to customer's desires. We can special order any color at any time.
  • Will you show me how to apply the hair color?
    Yes, our experts are happy to help!
  • How permanent is the hair color spray? Does it wash out?
    It washes easily out of all hair except bleached hair.
  • Can you ship it to me?
    Yes, by FedEx, UPS, or USPS.

  • What accessories do you stock?
    We offer bolts and rivets for Frankenstein and Munsters, fake blood, Dracula teeth, Sheriff's badges, monocles, glasses, handcuffs, clown noses, and appliances, such as latex appliances, masks, hands, gorilla feet, scarves, bullet holes, etc.
  • How much do the accessories cost?
    It depends. We accept Visa, Master Card, American Express, Debit cards, and cash.

Custom-Built Costumes and Mascots

  • Is the custom price higher than rental fees?
    We charge more than we do for custom-built costumes and mascots. We charge you the full cost of building the costume or mascot. You will own the costume.
  • What can I do if your custom fees are too high for me?
    If you cannot afford a custom-built costume, talk to us! If you only need it once, we can usually adapt existing costumes to fit your idea and rent it to you.
  • How much do you charge for custom-built mascots?
    The charge depends on the materials and process used to build your mascot. Usually we offer several options for your choice.
  • How do we decide on a design or concept?
    We provide you with sketches of possible designs and agree together on a design.
  • How long will the mascot last?
    Our clients are still using mascots we built 30 years ago. Every five or ten years, they send them to us for cleaning and repair for an additional fee.
  • How long does it take to build a custom costume or mascot?
    It depends on the complexity of the project and the time of the year. At Halloween and Christmas we are usually too busy to build custom mascots although we can do costumes with enough advance notice. In summer, we focus on building mascots.
  • How should we clean and maintain our custom costumes and mascots?
    You should send them to us for cleaning and repair, or call us and we will walk you through the process.
  • What payment methods do you accept?
    We accept Visa, Master Card, American Express, Debit cards, and cash.
